Yagry is actually two state-of-the-art Factory Trawlers; Yagry and Arkhangelsk. Each of these vessels were just recently built in Russia and have been fitted with state-of-the art trawl systems in Norway specifically for our use.
Both vessels work year-round in the pristine waters of the Barents Sea and along the northern Norwegian coast. The primary production is focused on cod fillets.
A close relationship with Russian boat owners has allowed us to maintain a committed crew of experienced Russian workers who work alongside key Norwegian personnel who ensure that Yagry products are of the highest quality.
Environmental responsibility is also important to the Yagry fleet and to that end, these boats are equipped with the latest technology available. This allows our vessels to get the maximum out of their quota with as little affect on the environment as possible. Further, these vessels are spill-proof, guaranteeing that no fuel or oil will spill into the seas, no matter how stormy or high the seas are.
The significance of the cod in shaping history can be traced back to the Viking era. It is no coincidence that the Vikings traveled within the realm of the Atlantic cod as they ventured from Norway to Iceland, Greenland and Canada. America's early colonists survived the harsh winters relying on cod and today cod is still an American staple - the standard by which all other whitefish are compared. Our Arctic Fisheries Norwegian cod has a wonderfully mild taste that is complemented by its large flakes and delicate texture.
